Our 80s Story

We met in high school and have been best friends ever since.

Our first conversations back in April 1985 were about the music and movies we loved and the pop culture fads we loved to lampoon. My80sStore is an extension of the banter we’ve been having ever since. The 80s parties we've been throwing for our friends since 2008 have included costume contests, trivia games, lip sync live concert performances, and dance parties we've DJ'd. Our book How To Throw an 80s Party shares stories (with the occasional 80s celebrity cameo) and offers legit guidance about how to make your own 80s party a successful throwback event that your friends will love.

As a run-up to the launch of My80sStore, the two of us have been getting together every week since 2021 to share 80s memories for the expressed purpose of designing products we'd like to wear, display, and share. Much of what we have to offer will be immediately recognizable to most 80s fans. However, we'll continue to add some obscure stuff that makes us laugh in the hopes that others will too. Wearing that particular t-shirt will earn you serious street cred with your tribe out there in the world.

As it turns out, our own coming-of-age decade has found a new audience—our kids are fans too. Their borrowed nostalgia for the unremembered 80s is on full display in the music they like, the 80s quotes they share, the fashions they rock, and the dated technology they enjoy.
